Alton School Website intro image.

Alton School Website

The Alton School is an independent faith school on the outskirts of Alton, Hampshire. We were asked to design and build them a new website.

Project Disciplines
UX & UI design and build, Graphic Design, Art Direction.

The Brief

The Alton School wanted a new website that would be both functional and inspirational. The site needed to be used as a channel to communicate between teachers, students and parents, plus attract new students both here in the UK and abroad. It was also important to covey some of their guiding principles of excellence, inclusivity and community in the design and messaging.

Their existing site was in need of a design re-fresh as well as a backend re-development.

The Challenge

The Alton School is made-up of 4 schools catering for over 450 children of all ages from pre-school to sixth form. One of their biggest challenges was coordination – how do they give each school its own voice and presence online, and still sit comfortably alongside each other under the Alton badge?

The old site was complex and hard to navigate. The staff also found it difficult to manage as most of the content is user-generated. With our expertise in UX design and back-end development, we were able to simplify the whole process from the top down – delivering a website that was appealing to look at, easy to use and easy to maintain.

The Outcome

The new website has become an invaluable tool in keeping existing students and parents in touch, as well as an inspirational show piece to attract new students. We feel they now have a website that reflects their vision of a ‘modern, diverse and outward-looking school.’

We continue to offer design and technical support, giving the staff confidence to keep the site running efficiently.
